Privacy Policy
Senseroutine has no accounts, so we never ask for your name or phone number. To keep it free we show advertising, and we analyse how the app is used and study the results to improve it. This page says plainly what that involves.
01At a glance
- No account. We never ask for a name, phone number or email.
- Your results are stored on the phone and, as statistics, on our server.
- Advertising uses your device advertising identifier. You can turn off personalised ads.
- We analyse how the app is used — screens visited, crashes and similar.
- Pseudonymised records are used for research and development and in academic papers.
- We ask for no access to contacts, photos or location.
02What “no account” means
Senseroutine never asks for a name, date of birth, phone number, email address or postal address. There is no sign-in screen, so we hold nothing that identifies you by name.
Advertising and analytics do use per-device identifiers. They are not linked to a name, but the law in many countries treats such identifiers as personal data — which is why we do not claim to collect nothing at all.
The age group used for the “your age group” comparison is a ten-year band, such as 60s. It is not a date of birth.
03What stays on your phone
Results per exercise, personal bests, the days you completed, weekly challenge points, your reminder time and your sound and vibration settings are stored on the device.
If you change phones, the records on the old phone do not travel with you.
04Results sent to our server
To show the age-group and overall averages and to improve the service, we send the exercise type, the result (such as reaction time), when it happened, the age band, and a random identifier generated on your device the first time the app runs.
That identifier is not linked to a name or a phone number. Delete and reinstall the app and a new one is created that cannot be connected to the previous one.
05Advertising
Senseroutine is free and the cost of running it is covered by advertising, served through Google AdMob.
In that process Google processes your device advertising identifier, approximate location at region level derived from your IP address, device information, and how you interact with the ads. We neither collect nor store this ourselves.
If you would rather not see personalised ads, you can switch them off on your device — on Android, Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID. Ads will still appear; they simply stop being matched to your interests.
For how Google handles this, please see the Google Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
06Usage analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to see which screens people leave, which exercises get used, and where the app stops working.
That covers in-app behaviour such as screens and taps, device model and OS version, app version, and diagnostic records when something crashes. Names and contact details are not part of it.
We use this to fix the app. We do not use it to single out an individual user.
07Research, development and academic use
We analyse training records to research and develop sensory training programmes, services that support dementia-prevention activities and healthy daily activity, and services that support brain-engaging activity.
Records used for this purpose are pseudonymised first: parts that could identify a person are removed or replaced, so that the data on its own does not reveal whose records they are.
Pseudonymised records may be used for academic research, papers and conference presentations, and statistical work, and may be shared for those purposes with research and academic institutions we work with. Nothing that identifies a person is included.
Findings are published only as statistics and group-level figures. An individual user’s records are never reproduced.
If you would prefer your records not to be used this way, write to privacy@senseroutine.com and we will stop processing what is collected from then on.
08International transfer and processors
Advertising and analytics use services from Google LLC, so the information above is processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
What is transferred: the advertising identifier and analytics information. Why: to serve ads and analyse usage. How long: according to each provider’s own policy.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask for your consent inside the app before advertising and analytics run. Declining does not stop you from using the exercises.
09Retention and deletion
Records on the phone are erased the moment you uninstall the app. There is no request procedure to follow.
Training records on our server are kept for three years from collection and then destroyed. Pseudonymised records used in research are kept until that research concludes and cannot be deleted individually, because they no longer identify anyone.
Advertising and analytics data follow Google’s retention policies. Deleting your device advertising ID breaks the link going forward.
10Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or to stop its processing. Write to privacy@senseroutine.com.
Note that we have no way to identify you by name. To find a specific set of records, please include the identifier shown on the app’s settings screen.
11Children
Senseroutine is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 14 where local law sets that age). If we learn that a child has used the app, we destroy the related information without delay.
12Changes and contact
If what we collect or why we collect it changes, we will update this document first and the app and store data safety disclosure with it. Significant changes are announced inside the app.
For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, write to privacy@senseroutine.com.
